What the desktop app adds
It is the same Projectous, in a window of its own. Nothing is stored separately and nothing syncs, because there is only one copy of your work and all of these are looking at it.
What it adds is the things a browser tab cannot do. Timers keep running where you can see them rather than behind fourteen other tabs. Notifications arrive as your operating system delivers them. And if you write software, it can make the branch for a task, commit against it and open the pull request without you naming anything twice.
It updates itself. When a new build is published the app fetches it and asks whether to restart, so this page is usually the last time you need it.
What it needs
macOS on Apple silicon or Intel, or 64-bit Windows. The download is a few hundred megabytes because the app carries its own browser engine, which is what lets it behave like a program rather than a page.
You sign in with the same account. There is nothing to set up afterwards, and no separate licence.
If you would rather not install anything
Everything except the git integration works in a browser, and the phone apps cover chat, tasks, the timer and the password vault. People generally end up using all three, which is the point of them sharing one account.
